Today we went over word problems with percents. The problems included finding the price of an item that is on sale and finding the percent of a rebate.

Today we started Unit 2: Percents. We went over how to change a percent to a ratio and a ratio to a percent.

Today we reviewed what we need to know for the test tomorrow.
Students need to know the following:
Find factors and multiples.
Identify prime and composite numbers.
Find greatest common factors and least common multiples.
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide integers.
Simplify, add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions.
Change fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions.
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals.

Homework: Study for test.

Today we practiced solving more word problems with fractions. We also went over manipulating decimals.

Today we went over dividing fractions. Remember: Keep, Change, Flip.
Example: 1/2 / 3/2
= 1/2 X 2/3
= 2/6 = 1/3
Homework: Do the following problem: Jami, Juli, and Judy together painted their house. Jami painted for 4 1/4 hours, Juli for 2 3/4 hours and Judy for 3 1/3 hours. What was the total number of hours they painted?

*2nd hour didn't get as far as first hour, so if you are in 2nd hour then you do not have homework.

Today we finished the Chapter 3.1 worksheet from Friday. We also went over how to use our calculators to go from decimals to fractions and back.
We started going over multiplying fractions.
Homework: (1st hour did not get as far in class, so 1st hour does not have homework tonight)

Today we went over simplifying fractions. Then we did an activity called Showdown to give the students the opportunity to practice. Next we reviewed changing a decimal to a fraction.

No Homework but tomorrow students will need a calculator as I will be showing them how to go from a decimal to a fraction and back to a decimal on their calculators.
I reccomend the TI-30XIIS or the TI-34multiview. Both of these calculators are great for fractions.

Today we finished the "beaker method" worksheet. Then we went over the rules for multiplying and dividing integers.
When dividing two integers with like signs the answer is positive.
When dividing two integers with opposite signs the answer is negative.
We then did practice problems out of the book: PG70 #1-4, 12-15.
After checking the practice problems, we started the notes for Chapter 3.1 Rational Numbers.
No homework.

Today we did practice problems on PG66 # 1-4, 9-16 over subtracting integers. Then we discussed multiplying and dividing integers using the "charge model" or "beaker method".
Homework: Do the first ten problems on the worksheet given out in class.

Today we took a quiz over adding and subtracting fractions. Then we went over subtracting integers with chips.
No Homework.

Today we went over adding integers. First we did practice problems with integer chips and then we did practice problems without integer chips. If students did not finish the practice problems then they will need to finish them for homework on PG63 #27-38
We will have a quiz tomorrow over adding and subtracting fractions.

2.) List the first five multiples of your favorite number.
3.) Tell if your favorite number is prime or composite.
4.) Find the GCF of your favorite number and 20.
5.) Find the LCM of your favorite number and 3.

Factors- numbers that are multiplied together to get another number.
Multiples- are found by multiplying the original number by other numbers.
Divisibility Rules
A number is divisible by . . .
2 - if the last digit is an even number
3 – if the sum of the digits is divisible by 3
4 – if the last two digits form a number divisible by 4
5 – if the last digit is 0 or 5
6 – if the number is even and divisible by 3
8 – if the last three digits form a number divisible by 8
9 – if the sum of the digits is divisible by 9
10 – if the last digit is 0
